High West – Double Rye (70cl, 46%)

A blend of two straight rye whiskeys from High West, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and without added colour. A younger column-still whiskey from MGP brings pronounced spice, while High West's older pot-still rye adds caramel sweetness and woody vanilla. The MGP whiskey is 95% rye and 5% malted barley, and High West's is 80% rye and 20% malted rye. Both are at least two years old and matured in new charred American white oak. The nose brings mint, dark chocolate, clove, allspice and liquorice root. Rye spice on the palate gives way to menthol, eucalyptus, lemon and ginger tea with wildflower honey. The finish turns from warm cinnamon sweets to gentle spiced sweetness, with a hint of aniseed.
