Highland Park Land of Orkney is a 14-year-old single malt from the distillery in Kirkwall on Orkney. It is bottled at 42.3% in a 70cl bottle, with no added colour and without a non-chill-filtered claim: it is chill-filtered.
The whisky matures in first-fill American oak casks that previously held sherry, and refill casks are added to round out the 14-year-old. The distillery malts part of its barley on traditional floors, and its peat comes from Hobbister Moor.
Vanilla, crème brûlée and baked fruit mark the nose, with a light, aromatic smoke. On the palate come baked apple, cinnamon, nutmeg and honey sweetness. The warm, gently smoky finish keeps a trace of heather.
