This is a 16 year old Highland Park from the Gordon MacPhail Connoisseurs Choice range, bottled from a single cask at cask strength in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was distilled in 2002 and matured in a refill sherry butt before being bottled in 2019 at 57.9% ABV. The cask gave 672 bottles.
The nose moves from freshly cut grass to rich dark chocolate and a touch of ginger, with soft toffee, caramelised orange peel and lime zest. On the palate, golden syrup mixes with grapefruit peel and cocoa powder, followed by vanilla, mixed nuts and gentle chilli heat. The finish is fine, with lingering aniseed.
