Highland Park 18 Year Old 'Viking Pride' is a single malt from the Orkney Islands, made at Scotland's northernmost distillery. It is sold in a 75cl bottle.
The whisky is matured mostly in first-fill European and American oak casks that previously held sherry. The sherry-seasoned wood brings dark fruit and spice, set against the aromatic Orkney heather peat smoke the distillery is known for.
The nose combines toffee, ripe cherries, dark chocolate and marzipan with a little peat smoke. On the palate come candied orange zest, honeyed fruit, cinnamon and espresso. The finish is long and sweet, with gentle smoke, winter baking spices and toasted oak.
