Highland Park – 21 Year Old November 2019 Release (70cl, 46%)

This is the November 2019 release of Highland Park 21 Year Old, a single malt from the Highland Park Distillery in Kirkwall, Orkney. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky is built from three kinds of cask in similar quantities: nine first-fill European sherry seasoned oak hogsheads, eight ex-bourbon hogsheads and nine refill hogsheads. The sherry casks bring warm spice and rich dried fruit, the bourbon casks sweeter exotic fruit, and the refill casks a softer influence. On the nose it is described as freshly cut pineapple, ripe mango, juicy pears and sun-dried sultanas, with spice market aromas and curls of aromatic peat smoke.
