This is the November 2019 release of Highland Park 21 Years, an Orkney single malt bottled at 46% ABV. Highland Park now issues its 21-year-old in batches: the overall character stays the same, while the casks used shift the flavour slightly from one batch to the next.
This batch was put together from first-fill sherry casks of European and American oak, along with refill casks.
The nose is freshly grated nutmeg and ginger, with spicy, sun-ripened fruit. The palate is rounded and elegant, with ripe mango, sweet pear, rich creamy vanilla and a light touch of peat smoke. The finish is soft, elegant and long.
