Highland Park 40 Year Old is the 2019 Spring Release, an original bottling from the Orkney Islands. Master Whisky Maker Gordon Motion married selected casks that had been filled before 1979, and the whisky carries a sherry influence. It was bottled at 43.2% in a run of 1,684 bottles, each presented in a solid oak box.
The notes describe ripe blackberries and cherries on the nose, alongside heather, dark chocolate and citrus. On the palate come sweet berries and vanilla cream, nutmeg, ripe oak and a discreet heather peat smoke. The finish is very long and spicy, with fruit, smoke and fine wood.
