Highland Park – Cask Strength Heather (70cl)

Highland Park Cask Strength Heather is the first release in the Orkney distillery's refreshed cask strength series and its first made entirely from peat-smoked barley. It uses the distillery's Hobbister Moor heather peat, rather than a blend of peated and unpeated malts, and is bottled undiluted in a 700ml bottle. It was matured in first-fill European and American sherry-seasoned oak casks together with refill barrels. The nose offers bonfire smoke, mossy earth and heather over vanilla pod, plum jam and brandy butter. The palate is syrupy, with charred marshmallow, herbal smoke, salted caramel and chocolate-covered coconut, plus ginger and cinnamon. The finish is long and warming, with toasted oak, almonds and sweet heather smoke.
