Highland Park – Hogmanay Malt 13 Year Old (50cl, 57.9%)

This is a single cask Highland Park from Orkney, distilled in October 2007 and matured for 13 years in a 125-litre Oloroso sherry quarter cask. It is bottled at 57.9% in a 50cl bottle, one of 233 bottles. Hogmanay is the Scots name for New Year's Eve. The small cask gave the whisky a red colour and a range of exotic fruit notes. The nose is lightly smoky, with varied dark exotic fruit. The palate brings bacon, sweetness and fruit, with salt and pepper well balanced. The finish is long and complex.
