This is a 12 year old Tennessee whiskey from the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, part of its Aged Series. It was matured for twelve years in new charred American oak and bottled at 53.5% ABV, which is 107 proof. The whiskey is charcoal mellowed using the Lincoln County Process before it goes into the barrel, and the mash bill is 80% corn, 12% malted barley and 8% rye. It is released in limited annual batches.
The nose brings toasted oak, dark caramel, dried fruit and pipe tobacco with a faint smokiness. On the palate there is rich oak, butterscotch, dark cherry and warming spice. The finish is long and smooth, with caramel, oak tannin and dried fruit.
