Jack Daniel's Old No. 7 is a sour mash Tennessee whiskey made at the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, Tennessee, which was established in 1866 by Jasper Newton Daniel. It is bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl-class 75cl bottle.
The mash bill is 80% corn, 12% rye and 8% malted barley. After distillation in copper stills, the new spirit is dripped through 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal before it goes into the barrel, the Lincoln County Process that sets Tennessee whiskey apart from bourbon.
The nose combines caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, corn sweetness and banana, with a light charcoal note. The palate is smooth, with brown sugar and light wood spice, and the finish is warm and medium in length.
