A Kentucky straight bourbon from Willett, made by marrying two recipes with different amounts of rye. The larger part, 65% of the blend, has 13% rye in the mash; the smaller has 38%. It is bottled at 50.5%, or 101 proof, without chill-filtering or added colour.
Each recipe matured separately for four to six years in new, heavily charred American oak before the two were combined.
The nose brings cedar, orange marmalade, wild leek and sour apple. The palate is dry and balanced, with mint, walnut skin, vanilla and caramel. Cinnamon, clove and graham cracker run through a medium-length finish with a touch of smoke.
