Kanosuke Hioki Pot Still 2024 Limited Edition is the fifth release in the Kanosuke limited edition series that began in 2021, and the first to come from the Hioki Distillery in Kagoshima, Japan. It is bottled at 55% in a 70cl bottle.
Made from barley and malted barley, it is classed as a grain whisky but distilled in stainless steel pot stills under vacuum. It was matured at the Kanosuke Distillery in new American white oak, bourbon and ex-shochu casks.
The nose is crème brûlée, fresh oak, apricot and hazelnut. The palate gives vanilla, caramel sauce and charred oak, and the finish is long, with nutmeg spice.
