Lagavulin – 16 Year Old

This is a 16 year old single malt from Lagavulin, the Islay distillery set in a bay on the island's coast. The bay appears on the bottle label. The distillery traces its roots to 1816, when the farmer John Johnston founded the first legally recognised distillery there. The nose recalls the sea and the peaty Islay landscape. On the palate come peat smoke, sea salt and a strong, honey-like sweetness. The finish brings sea salt and seaweed.
