Laphroaig 10 Year Old Cask Strength Batch 16 is an Islay single malt matured for a minimum of ten years in charred ex-bourbon oak barrels. It was bottled in 2022 at a natural cask strength of 58.5% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill filtered and only barrier filtered to remove char particles.
Peat smoke runs through it, savoury and medicinal, alongside sea salt and a layer of sweetness.
The nose offers stewed apples, pastry crust and iodine-tinged peat smoke. On the palate it is sweet and spicy, with vanilla, sea salt and black pepper. The finish is long and warming, with lingering smoke and a little sea salt.
