Laphroaig 10 Year Old is an Islay single malt bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. The distillery dates from 1815 and is known for a peaty, medicinal style.
The barley is malted with peat from the distillery's own bogs on Islay, with part of it floor malted. The whisky was matured for 10 years, mainly in first-fill ex-bourbon American oak casks.
The nose is bold smoke and sea spray, with iodine, seaweed and a hint of vanilla sweetness. The palate is full-bodied, with peat smoke, brine and an antiseptic note, balanced by sweetness, oak and barley. The finish is long and warming, with smoke, spice and salt, fading to a dry close.
