Laphroaig 27 Year Old is an Islay single malt from the Laphroaig distillery on the south coast of the island. The peat used in distilling is cut by hand from local moors.
The nose offers smoky sweetness with vanilla and nuts, lemon and fresh dates, exotic fruit and a trace of sea salt. On the palate it is full-bodied, with iodine and salt, fresh oak and a slightly bitter tannin edge. Spice runs through the smoke, with ash and pepper.
The finish brings nuts, citrus fruit, oak and a hint of leather.
