Laphroaig 30 Year Old is an Islay single malt matured in first-fill and second-fill former bourbon casks of American white oak. That long maturation moves it towards a lighter style than the distillery's usual, though the sea influence of its shoreline warehouses remains.
It was bottled in May 2016 at 53.5% ABV, in an outturn of 10,000 bottles. It carries no added colour and is not filtered.
The nose is aromatic peat with nuts, exotic fruit and sage. The palate brings orange, vanilla and cedar wood. The finish is long, with stone fruit and hand-rolled tobacco.
