Laphroaig 36 Years is part of The Wall Collection, a series inspired by the discovery of historical bottles in the wall of the distillery on Islay. This is bottle 194 of 200, bottled at 46.8% ABV in a 70cl bottle and in a natural deep amber colour. The whisky spent 36 years maturing in the Laphroaig warehouses. The nose combines soft peat smoke with ripe tropical fruit, old leather, beeswax, a touch of seaweed and old oak. On the palate come dark chocolate, candied fruit and old sherry, followed by fine spices and a delicate saltiness. The finish is long, with gentle smoke, dark fruit, spice and a maritime note.
