This Indiana straight bourbon from MGP is a single-barrel release from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, numbered B7.14 and called Gleatissimo. The spirit was distilled on 19th December 2016 and spent four years in a first-fill #4 char barrel. The outturn is 207 bottles.
Its mash bill is 51% corn, 45% wheat and 4% malted barley. The new oak barrel has a #4 char, with #2 char on the heads.
Marzipan, whipped vanilla cream and brown sugar come first on the nose, alongside a wisp of wood smoke and sweet tobacco. Orange oil, white pepper, cinnamon and a little black liquorice follow on the palate. Adding water brings out gorse, coconut, mango and toasted almonds, with a sweet, chocolate chip ice cream taste.
