Michter's – 10 Year Old Rye (75cl, 46.4%)

Michter's 10 Year Old Rye is a single barrel Kentucky rye whiskey, aged for ten years and bottled at 46.4% in a 75cl bottle. Each bottling comes from one barrel, so small variations from bottle to bottle are to be expected. The rye goes into new charred American oak barrels at 103 proof, lower than the usual 125. This lets the spirit draw more sugars and flavour from the wood over the decade. The mashbill is at least 51 percent rye. The nose is bubble gum, dried flowers, fruit pastries and candied cherry. The palate has vanilla, toffee, spearmint, rye spice and black pepper. The finish is medium, with clove, spearmint and dusty oak.
