Nikka – Taketsuru Pure Malt (70cl, 43%)

Taketsuru Pure Malt is a Japanese blended malt from Nikka, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. The name honours Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of Nikka and a pioneer of Japanese whisky. The blend draws on Yoichi and Miyagikyo single malts, with Yoichi bringing a smokier character. The nose is usually described as lemon, coconut, chocolate and a touch of peat. On the palate there is some peat and sea salt, followed by apple, pear, flowers and chocolate. The finish carries honey, fruit and a certain earthiness.
