Old Ezra 7 Year Old is a straight rye whiskey from Lux Row Distillers, aged for seven years and bottled at barrel strength, 114 proof. It is made from a blend of two rye mash bills, one with 95% rye and one with 51% rye. The result is full-bodied, with bold rye spice tempered by mature oak and some sweetness. The nose is typically described as brown sugar, dark caramel, vanilla and sweet cherry, with orange peel and rye spice. The palate is syrupy and sweet, with burnt caramel, cherry candy and warm baking spices. The finish is long and warming, with brown sugar, citrus and a crack of white pepper.
