This is the first cask strength bourbon released under the Pinhook name, bottled at 57.7% in a 75cl bottle. The bourbon was distilled at MGP in Indiana, then aged, blended and proofed by Sean Josephs at Castle & Key Distillery in Kentucky. Its average age is three years and eight months.
It is part of the Crop 18 grouping and is named after a thoroughbred, Bourbon Country. This release is sealed in purple wax, a first for the brand.
The nose is candied orange and white cake with vanilla, light oak and pepper. The palate is bold with rye spice, nuts and black pepper, and the finish is warming, with peach, oak and leather.
