The Stranger is a Polish rye whiskey from Proof and Wood, made from 100% rye distilled in Poland and bottled at 52.5% in a 75cl bottle.
The spirit was shipped to the United States and matured there for eight years in a mix of ex-bourbon and ex-rye barrels. It comes from a single 10-barrel batch, which yielded 2,088 bottles.
The nose offers baked apple and ripe pear with cinnamon sugar and baking spices. On the palate come pear tart, gingersnap, rye bread crust and dark caramel, then spearmint, vanilla and nutmeg. The finish is medium and fruity, with mango, mild oak, nutmeg and white pepper.
