Remus Highest Rye is a 6-year-old bourbon from the Ross & Squibb Distillery in Indiana, in a 70cl bottle. It is named after George Remus, known as the "King of the Bootleggers".
The mash bill holds 39% rye, which takes the whisky to the limit of what the legal definition of bourbon allows. It is bottled at 109 proof.
The nose brings candied fruit, dark caramel, baking spice and a little leather. On the palate come cinnamon, pepper, vanilla, dark chocolate and toasted oak, followed by a long, spicy finish of dry oak and brown sugar.
