Rossville Union Master Crafted Barrel Proof Rye is a straight rye whiskey bottled at cask strength, 56.3% ABV (112.6 proof), without chill filtration or reduction. It comes from MGP's distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and is drawn from 83 hand-selected barrels aged five to seven years in new American oak.
The whiskey blends two mashbills: one of 95% rye and 5% malted barley, and one of 51% rye, 45% corn and 4% malted barley.
The nose is led by rye spice with cocoa, cinnamon, nutmeg, aged tobacco and old leather. The palate is rich, with caramel, vanilla, baking spice, black pepper, dried dark fruit and honey. The finish is long, with rye spice, a little smoke, leather and dry oak.
