Stranahan's Blue Peak is an American single malt from Denver, Colorado, bottled at 43% in a 750ml bottle. It is made from 100% malted barley, double-distilled and aged for four years in new American oak barrels with a number 3 char.
The whiskey then spends several months in new American oak foeders, using a solera approach: the foeders are never fully emptied, so each batch marries with what remains of earlier ones. It is chill-filtered before bottling.
On the nose there is dried apricot, cinnamon toast and nutmeg. The palate is creamy, with butterscotch, brown sugar, baked apple and a touch of cayenne, and the finish is rich and mellow, with warm spices.
