The Balvenie 12 Year Old Golden Cask is a single malt from the Balvenie distillery in Dufftown, Speyside, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks and given a final period in Caribbean rum casks.
That rum finish brings a fruity, exotic note to the honeyed, spiced character of the distillery. It was originally made for travel retail.
The nose combines floral honey, pineapple and mango with soft vanilla and toasted oak. The palate is creamy and balanced, with molasses, ripe banana, cinnamon, ginger and a bright citrus note. The finish runs medium to long, with tropical fruit, gentle spice and a warm, honeyed feel.
