The Matsui Single Malt Sakura Cask is a Japanese single malt bottled at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It comes from the Matsui Distillery in Tottori prefecture, on the south-western part of Honshu island, founded in 1910. Tottori is known for its soft, mineral-rich water.
The whisky was matured in a cask made from Japanese cherry wood, known as sakura. The label shows a painting by the Japanese artist Kikukawa Eizan, Beauty in a Cherry Blossom Garden.
It is described as mildly sweet, rich and bold, with a distinct cherry blossom character.
