The Old Malt Cask Laphroaig 14 Year Old (50%)

This is a 14 year old Laphroaig from Islay, bottled by Hunter Laing in its Old Malt Cask range. The distillery has been making whisky since 1815, and it is known for a peaty character with a clear influence of salt in the water and air. Old Malt Cask releases are bottled at 50% ABV without chill-filtration. This single cask was bottled in 2014 and yielded 284 bottles. The nose is led by apple, with green moss and a little lime. The palate shows salt and caramel, supported by marzipan and mint. The finish is long and spicy, with a clear sweetness.
