This is Tyrconnell 10 Year Old Port Finish, a double-distilled Irish single malt from the Cooley distillery in County Louth. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 46% ABV and is not chill-filtered.
After ten years in bourbon barrels, the whiskey spends a further six to eight months in selected former port casks from Portugal's Douro Valley.
Baked apples and earthy notes lead the nose. The palate opens with port-influenced sweetness, then mild spice and fine cocoa take over from ripe fruit, ending in light oak and a touch of malt. The finish is long and warm, with spice coming forward and a dry port note.
