W.D. O'Connell 10 Year Old Single Grain Irish Whiskey (70cl, 48%)

A ten year old single grain Irish whiskey from W.D. O'Connell, distilled at Cooley Distillery and matured in bourbon and rye whiskey casks. The bourbon casks contribute vanilla, caramel and honey, and the rye casks add spice. It forms part of the Bourbon & Rye Cask Series, which releases grain whiskey in small batches. It is bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and without added colour. The nose combines juicy pear and vanilla with pecans and cinnamon. The palate has fruit, candied walnuts and vanilla, with pepper and rye spice. The long, oily finish leaves lemon, vanilla and cloves.
