Wild Turkey 8 Year Old is a Kentucky straight bourbon made at the Wild Turkey Distillery in Lawrenceburg. It is bottled at 101 proof, which is 50.5% ABV, in a 70cl bottle.
The mash bill is 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley. The bourbon spends at least eight years in new American oak barrels with a No. 4 "alligator" char, and the barrels are filled at a lower entry proof than many producers use.
The nose has toasted oak and cereal with a dry, savoury edge, plus muskmelon, underripe banana and worn leather. On the palate come vanilla, brown sugar and scorched caramel, with roasted grain and a peppery heat.
