A four-year-old small batch rye from Willett in Bardstown, Kentucky, bottled at a cask strength of 54.8%, without chill-filtration or added colour. Its recipe follows the flavour of historic Maryland ryes. Ninety per cent of the blend is whiskey from a mash of 74% rye, 11% corn and 15% barley, and the other ten per cent comes from a mash of 51% rye, 34% corn and 15% barley. It matured in white oak barrels.
Cherries with a liqueur-like depth lead the nose, opening to cinnamon, baking spices and a hint of oak. The palate is full and weighty, with firm rye, dark cherry, lightly charred vanilla and lasting spice. The finish is long and spicy.
